The Band

The project Camerata Mediolanense took concrete form in 1994. It gathered some friends in Milan (Mediolanense = from Mediolanum, the ancient name for Milan), who were all involved in the underground music scene. It was conceived as a real musical "camerata", which casts a look at the Italian past and at the same time is deeply rooted in today's European reality. In fact, the main features of Camerata Mediolanense's musical language are: a percussive background, particularly evident during their live performances, which comes out thanks to the use of a non-conventional set of instruments; parallel to this, the band is doing a research on pure melodiousness, thanks also to the academical studies of some of its members.

The Camerata Mediolanense gives considerable importance to study, research and experimenting, both in composing and together in studio. The use of electronics blends or alternates thus with ancient sounds of harpsichord, accordion and sometimes trumpet.

The Camerata Mediolanense believes in music and in art as means of expression and of association and sharing. It believes that symbols (from the Greek word "sımbolon", which indicates union in putting together), heart and spirit of humanity, belong to humanity and to art.

In the live dimension, the Camerata Mediolanense interprets an art that stages a "ritual", the ritual of life which, in the "magical ring" of performance, takes a symbolical meaning, through aesthetical enjoyment, and also on an aestetical and ennobling purpose.

Since its birth, the Camerata Mediolanense has issued 3 CDs, a compilation on CD, a limited edition of a 7" trilogy dedicated to chant V of Dante's Inferno to be contained in a limited edition box, a limited edition picture disc LP, a limited edition 10" and another limited edition 7".
It has taken part in several compilations issued all over the world.

The Camerata Mediolanense has given about 50 live performances all over Europe, obtaining great success.
